Techcomlight takes the next step in CO₂ insight: from corporate level to product level

Techcomlight continuously works on improving the sustainability of its products and operations. In collaboration with ClimatePartner, we have recently calculated both our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) and the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of Techcomlight and our Powerdaylight products.
This step provides valuable insights that we actively use to further improve our products.

Full insight into our CO₂ footprint

At corporate level, Techcomlight has calculated its complete CO₂ footprint across Scope 1, 2 and 3. This includes not only our own energy consumption and transportation, but also emissions throughout the value chain, such as purchased materials and logistics.
This analysis forms a solid foundation for targeted sustainability improvements.

Product-level CO₂ footprint

In addition, a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) has been established for the Powerdaylight daylighting system. These calculations are based on a cradle-to-gate plus end-of-life approach. This means the CO₂ impact has been assessed from raw material extraction, through production and transport, to the post-use phase, including waste processing and recycling.

By including the end-of-life phase, we gain a more realistic and complete view of a product’s total environmental impact.

What do we learn from this?

The results provide us with clear, actionable insights. We can identify where the largest CO₂ impacts occur and where improvements are possible, for example in:

  • material choices
  • product design
  • lifespan and circularity
  • transport and packaging

We actively use these insights to further optimise our products and make them future-proof.

Looking ahead

For Techcomlight, this is not an endpoint, but a next step. The knowledge and experience gained are applied to:

  • further product development
  • transparent communication with customers and partners
  • supporting architects, contractors and business clients in sustainable building

By combining CO₂ insight with innovation, we continue to develop daylight solutions that are not only comfortable and energy-efficient, but also demonstrably contribute to a lower environmental impact.

“PCFs are not yet standard in the daylighting sector. Techcomlight is taking the lead with product-level CO₂ insights that help architects, contractors and customers make better sustainable choices.”
