Daylighting Systems

Daylighting Systems

Daylighting Systems, also known as Light Tubes, tubular skylights, sun tunnels, or solar pipes, are architectural elements designed to channel natural light from a building's exterior to its interior. They serve as optical waveguides, transmitting daylight to illuminate spaces that might not have direct access to windows or traditional skylights.

Components of Light Tubes:

Dome or Collector: Positioned on the roof or an exterior wall, this component captures sunlight and directs it into the tube. Some designs incorporate lenses or reflective elements to enhance light collection.

Reflective Tube: The captured light travels through a highly reflective tube, which can be straight or flexible to accommodate building designs. The tube's interior ensures minimal light loss during transmission.

Diffuser: Located at the tube's end, the diffuser evenly distributes the natural light into the interior space, providing consistent illumination.

Benefits of Light Tubes:

Energy Efficiency: By utilizing natural light, light tubes reduce the need for artificial lighting, leading to energy savings.

Enhanced Well-being: Exposure to natural light has been linked to improved mood and productivity among building occupants.

Versatility: Light tubes can be installed in various settings, including residential homes, offices, and commercial buildings.
